We've Upgraded Your Profile: Get Discovered & Booked Faster!

If you've been with us for a while, you know that setting up your profile used to feel like a bit of a marathon. We heard your feedback loud and clear: the old onboarding process was too long, and it was hard to tell if your profile was even visible to clients.

We've completely overhauled the profile setup experience to get you up and running, and earning in record time. Instead of making you complete a massive profile all at once, we've broken the journey down into bit sized stages.

Here is exactly how the onboarding stages and your side hamburger menu links have changed to make your life easier.

What is Changing?

1. Basic Profile, Skills Profile and Marketplace Profile are now separate

Previously, you had to fill out a long and continuous set of screens before you could even start using the app. We've cut out the noise and reduced the number of initial fields you need to fill out.

Instead of making you complete all personal details fields, skill fields and payment fields at once, we only ask for the absolute essentials upfront so your profile is up and running asap.

2. Profile Visibility Indicator

In the past, it wasn't always clear as to whether your profile was live or what steps were preventing it from being visible to clients.

We've now made this easier via a traffic light indicator in the app header, this will flash red or green depending on the status of your onboarding.

More on that in the next section, for now, a few quick tips to ensure your traffic light turns green quickly;

Upload a profile pic
Complete your basic profile fields
Add at least 1 skill to your work history and have an overall skill rating greater than 0

What do the 3 stages look like? The Before vs. Now

To unlock the Browse Freelancers page, meaning clients can see your profile when searching for talent, you only need to complete Stages 1 and 2:

Stage 1: The Basic Profile

We've stripped this initial stage down to the absolute essentials so you can finish it in minutes.

Before: You had to fill out your Resume, Personal Details, Bio, plus your Payment Details, Availability, Calendar Sync, and Scheduling all at once before even getting started.
Now: You only need to upload your Resume, fill in some Personal Details, a Bio, and nominate your Top 5 Skills.

Once you've completed your Basic Profile, you have the choice of completing either your Skill Profile, or your Marketplace Profile:

Stage 2: The Skill Profile

This section hasn't changed and is still focused on showcasing your expertise, so be sure to fill in as much detail as possible by tagging as many skills as possible to jobs - the richer your skill profile, the higher your skill rating!

🎉 The good news: As soon as you complete Stage 1 and Stage 2, your profile instantly becomes live and public on our Browse page! Clients can now discover you, even if you haven't finished the rest of your setup.

Now, to take it to the next level and unlock bookings and payouts, the fun part where you are actually able to perform work and earn your rewards, you will need to complete Stage 3.

Stage 3: The Marketplace Profile

This is a brand-new section in the onboarding journey and hamburger menu where you can manage your payment details and calendar sync options.

Before: Non-existent as a separate phase (it was part of Stage 1).
Now: Once you are visible on the Browse page, you can complete this final stage at your own pace to become bookable. It contains your Availability, Calendar Sync, Scheduling, and the Stripe Dashboard.

Key point: Your Marketplace Profile is not complete, and you won't be able to access your Stripe Dashboard to manage payments until you have passed Stripe's identity verification process, more about that in our dedicated Stripe article.

💰 The even better news: Clients can officially click "Book now" on your profile once this stage is completed.

Stripe Payments
